FINAL RESULTS

With all August games being 'Team games only' the second Order of Merit event of 2026 concluded at New Sierra on 30th July, making it a shorter than usual 9 game contest. This trimestre still saw 135 different players compete across those 9 games (61 in Div 1 & 74 in Div 2) and the 'cut-off' handicap for Division 2 was 18.3, with anyone lower being in the Division 1 category. A total of 32 players managed to complete the full 4 qualifying games with only 10 managing to hit the maximum 6 game tally & a further 9 managing 5 games.

 

Division 1:

In Division 1, Brian Platt was our early leader but could only play 4 games and was quickly chased down by our winner. Another solid display from Ron Weller and a late charge from Steve Fitzpatrick (who may have done even better had he managed more than 4 games) kept things interesting. Steve & Ron both finished on 142 pts with Steve being held in 3rd due to Ron's better 4th game score. In all honesty, the top place never seemed to be at risk and our congratulations go to James Clasby, who easily took the top spot with an excellent 150pts.

Division 2:

Division 2 was a slightly tighter contest than Division 1 with Harry Rice taking an early lead and holding that for the first 5 weeks. Our winner chased Harry down by week 6 and it looked all 'done & dusted', however, his wife had something to say about that and rallied strongly. Unfortunately, Diane Nicholls failed to improve her score  in her 6th game so had to settle for Third place with 144 pts, Harry Rice held onto second place with 147 pts but congratulations go to our Division 2 champion Steve Nicholls who scored 151 points to take a well deserved win.

 

Scoring 40+ points proved a simpler task this trimestre with 12 players making the 40's club (7 of them at the Vistabella game) and the top score being 44 points by Harry Rice (guess where). There were also: 3 scores of 43, & scores of 42 points and 1 score of 40 points.
