CONGRATULATIONS go to James Clasby & Steve Nicholls on winning their respective categories of the 2nd 2026 Order of Merit. James won the Cat 1 trophy with 150 points, whilst Steve took the Cat 2 trophy with his 151 points. See the Order of Merit' web page for full details

The last Competition of the ‘Summer Swing’ is to be held at Villamartin on Thursday 27 Aug’26 so please do come and support this event and especially as Villamartin will close for remodelling and refurbishment from Spring 2027 (for at least 18 months)

01 Oct’26 sees a first for Amigos, a golf adventure to play Las Pinaillas, Albacete, a Seve Ballesteros designed golf that very few of you have played before.  We have a coach organised to take you there and back that day, so just book & turn up at one of three pick up points, Mar Menor Golf Resort, Hacienda Riquelme and El Valle with your golf clubs!

The Competition Fixture Schedule has now been completed for 2027 and will be announced/opened on 03 Sep’26 at Las Colinas.  It will show an interesting mix of quality golf courses to get the best out of your game and we have some new and challenging adventures for you, including two brand new Golf Courses and a first visit to another.

As previously mentioned, and very much your choice, our 10th Anniversary 'away day' will return to Oliva Nova on 19-21 May’27. More of the same successful itinerary with a few extras thrown in. This event is already well supported but let us know if you want to join us as we can still accommodate a few more.

2027 will see the Amigos Ryder Cup return and this time a ‘shotgun start’ will announce the arrival at Peraleja Golf Club on 16 Sep’27.  This competition has had a ‘soft’ opening on the booking schedule but it already shows a significant number of registrants

The biggest Competition in the whole of our local Golf Society area ‘The Race to Las Colinas’ is well underway with the final competition to be held at Las Colinas on 23 Dec’26. Checkout who's leading but it remains wide open and even those who have received monthly prizes are not guaranteed to win the major accolade. Just keep playing!

We still attract so many applicants to join our Amigos ranks at all levels of golf ability, which is so good to see, and after going through the initiation process successfully we delight in welcoming you to our start sheets.

Amigo’s have kept their Annual Membership Fees at €10,00 per year for the last 10 years but it's time for a change. The new ‘one-off’ rate from 01 Jan’27 will be €20,00 per golfer (no matter whether you play 1 game or 40+ with us), reducing to €10,00 per Golfer from 01 Oct’27. This will help us provide more subsidies, especially for the more expensive games.

Amigos ‘Summer Swing’ has confirmed that there is always an appetite for hot Summer Golf. Special thanks go to Andrew Smithurst, Colin Walters, Paul Best and others who have unselfishly stood-in over the Summer when Amigos principal Organisers have only been available in overseas background roles.

You Amigos really took to the Platinum Fours Competition last year judging by the registrations received so far and for a Competition on 28 Nov’26 this year! Reserve list only now please.

We think it appropriate to recognise the sad loss of so many Amigos over the years and especially in 2026 that we will introduce a new ‘Memorial Cup’ Competition in 2027. Nothing morbid just a symbolic gesture to those who have departed. A special and appropriate trophy will be provided for the occasion.

For the sizzly summer month of August, all Amigos games will be a little more 'chilled' and be solely team competitions. Still great competition but hopefully a little less stressful in the heat.

Congratulations to Alan Evans on taking first place in the Race to Las Colinas July monthly comp with a magnificent factored average of 44.5 over 4 games, 2nd place went to Terry McCartney with 43points over 2 games & Sue Horsfield took 3rd place with her solo score of 42pts at New Sierra for his single score of 42 points.

It is with great sadness that we mourn the loss of Phil Watson. Always a larger than life character and well loved for his generosity, good humour and impish pranks and a founder member of Amigos. We will miss you.

Congratulations to Harry Rice & Steve Nicholls, who shared first place in the Race to las Colinas monthly comp with each getting a factored average of 43.3 over 3 games, 3rd place went to Stephen Day for his single score of 42 points.

Congratulations to all Amigos, your 2's donations over the past 12 months have enabled us to donate €1257 to the HR Charity Day. Presentation was made to Iain Stewart (Charity Day organiser) at the Saurines game on 25th June.

CONGRATULATIONS to Gordon Hutchinson and his Golden Bears team on a magnificent 9-7 matches won victory over Iain Stewart's Amigos team. It was a very close thing with Amigos actually winning more individual holes than the Golden Bears, but crucially, the Bears won more matches and that is what the Matchplay format is all about.
