After consultation with Colin Comber we have decided to cancel the Amigos vs Serena game scheduled for 5/12. We are currently looking at possibly playing on our visit scheduled for 21/1/21 but will confirm at a later date.

GNK have advised us that the Spanish Health Ministry has now decreed that anyone playing golf needs to wear a Covid mask

As you will have all realised, the new 'internal borders' policy significantly impacts our options for Golf and people's ability to travel to courses. If based from HR it looks like our options are limited to El Valle & Altaona but we are checking New Sierra (but potentially in Torre Pacheco municipality).

GNK have announced that the Covid constraints now include the need to wear a facemask, even when playing golf. Sounds barmy but apparently those are the rules.

The Spanish tourist ministry has decreed that all golfers must sign a 'Covid-19 Waiver' before using a driving range, due to inability to assure social distancing. This needs to be done before each game so please arrive an extra 20 mins earlier to complete at the proshop.

The Organisers undertook a 'recce' of Desert Springs Golf Resort last week, and it does look like a good & challenging venue for the Anniversary Cup in May '21. The greens were absolutely superb, the food we had after the game was very good and the service & their ability to accommodate us is excellent.

I am delighted to report that Graham has managed to secure 36 tee times at Las Ramblas for 29/10 game (0930 1st tee time) at €42 for walkers + €10 sharing a buggy. All previously received bookings for Alhama for that day will be automatically valid to play Las Ramblas so no need to rebook.

Disappointingly, GNK have just announced that they will be temporarily closing their Alhama Signature course on the 20th of October. This will affect our bookings there on the 29th October and 10th December for which we are investigating alternative venues. All current bookings for that day will be automatically transferred & be valid for the new venue, no need to rebook.

With the 'World Golf Handicap' coming into play in UK from 2nd Nov 2020, many people have been asking "What does it mean to Amigos?". In short - nothing changes for Amigos until 1/1/2021 from which time we will also move to using the WGH calculation model to manage Amigos handicaps. More info as we get closer.

To minimise any clashing with the "JBH Charity Golf Event" we have moved our 22/8 game at La Torre to Wednesday 21/10. No need to re-book but please check you can still play and cancel if you cannot.

This year's planned Charity Day (Friday, October 23rd) has inevitably been affected by the virus pandemic, however the organisers do still hope to organise some kind of an Event. To understand who can play they are asking players to confirm if they will be in Spain that day. Please contact Andy Harvey (ahpostbox@aol.com) with that info if you planned to play.

In light of GNK's announcement re Hacienda Riquelme's closure, we have rearranged the 24/9 game to be played at El Valle. Only one other Amigos game this year is impacted and we are rescheduling that at the moment - AMIGOS GOLF CONTINUES.

Sadly, we can confirm that GNK has announced the temporary closure of Hacienda Riquelme golf course until further notice. The decision is due to the low number of golfers in the area making it commercially unrealistic to keep all 4 GNK courses open at this time.

With the recent tightening of Covid-19 controls and the reduction of group gatherings to 30 people it has become necessary to cancel our planned Anniversary Cup event this year. We will still hold a normal Amigos game and all booked players can still play, but NO CUP unfortunately.

The Alhama Golf Society are holding an Open Day Competition at Alhama Signature on the 18th of September and have invited all regional societies members to join them. A special rate has been agreed for this event of €30 walking or €84 for two players sharing a buggy. Anyone interested should contact Compcadgolf@outlook.com for more details.

We have decided that 01 Sep’20 will see the start of more standard Amigos golf including: Individual handicap movements for all games, Order of Merit Competition open for Sep-Dec, Amigos €5,00 annual membership renewals (to end 2020), full announcement of Amigos 2021 season competitions and golf course venues and opening of bookings.
