GNK have announced that they will not be opening the Hacienda Riquelme golf course until October. Maintenance work will continue but apparently COVID restrictions are still keeping booking numbers too low to make reopening viable in September.

For the Ryder Cup we propose to run a free Tombola for all players with the Amigos committee 'putting up' a number of prizes. To try to extend the winners we are asking other Amigos for prize donations to increase the winner numbers. Prizes can be delivered to John Mair in advance or brought on Ryder Cup morning. Please advise John if you can help, Thanks.

GNK have announced their 2022 Society pricing policy: High Season = €41 walking, €11 pp sharing buggy: Low Season = €39 walking, €5 pp sharing buggy; Members = €9 walking, €13.5 pp sharing buggy (members prices to be confirmed). Low season = January, June, July, August and December.

Captain America (Gordon Hutchinson) & Captain Europe (Bob Lancaster) will be picking their pairings from the players available to them after the random draw on 2nd September, that will determine who plays in which team. Ensure you are in the player list by booking now as this is not to be missed and already nearing capacity.

The recent announcement by GNK that they are restarting full maintenance at HR with a target date of 13/9 for reopening is great news and bodes well for our Ryder Cup game scheduled there on 23rd September.

Congratulations to Phil Brookes on his great performance at Desert Springs, taking the Anniversary cup with an excellent score of 40 points. Checkout his and other photos of the day in the Anniversary Cup Photos Album on this Website

Don't forget to book onto our special 'away games' at Camposol (8/7) and Lo Romero (22/7). Spaces still available also for El Valle on 1/7.

Congratulations to David Henshall - Brown in holding off all the challengers to win the Jan - Apr 21 Order of Merit trophy with an excellent score of 178, 2 points clear of Alastair Sporne in 2nd place.

To avoid the upset in a recent society game, we are clarifying the use of 'Dropping Zones' in Amigos games. Where a 'dropping zone' is linked to a water hazard its use will be the ONLY form of relief available, bar playing the shot again with stroke & distance penalty. 2 Club length drops from point of entry are NOT permitted (as per R&A model local rule E-1.3)

Due to the continued closure of the Hacienda Riquelme course we have rearranged the 22/7 game to Lo Romero - always a popular course to play so get your bookings in.

LADIES DAY OFFER - from 1/6 to 4/6 GNK are offering FREE GOLF for all ladies at La Torre & El Valle. Unfortunately this does not apply to society matches but get an extra game in for free if you can.

Amigos Anniversary cup pricing for various packages (Stay & Play or Golf Only) now available under the 'Anniversary Cup' tab on this website. Don't miss out on these great deals we have managed to get from Desert Springs. Book your place online asap.

From 00:00 am on Sunday 9th May the regional border restrictions will be lifted, thereby enabling us to broaden the number of courses we can visit. This now brings Las Ramblas back onto our schedule for 13th May and Vistabella, not too long after that.

GNK have advised that it is now permitted to not wear a mask while practicing and playing golf. A mask must be worn in the clubhouse and pro shop but once you arrive to the driving range, putting green or first tee; you may remove your mask. You must still wear a mask if you are sharing a buggy with someone from outside your household.

Congratulations to Hanne Johnslov on her magnificent victory in the 2nd event on the Murcia Senior Ladies Golf Tour. Hannah beat a strong field of ladies, including players as low as 2 handicap.

Please note that to create a little variety in our members golf, we have booked Las Ramblas for our 13/5 game and moved our 6/5 game to La Torre.

If you are interested in playing in one of the HR teams (Mens & Ladies) in the GNK league, please contact Henry Gill (Mens) and Pat Gingell (Ladies).

Due to regional border restrictions not being lifted ahead of our planned visit to Font del Llop we have had to relocate the game of 8/4 to La Serena. We hope to get back to Font del Llop later in the year when Covid restrictions have eased further.

Hopefully, we will be able to circulate the new shirts that were bought in December 20, in May when I return to Spain. If anyone else requires an Amigos shirt, please order asap and I may be able to bring that out then as well. If not, they will be in Spain in mid September.

Rather than cancel the Anniversary cup for a 2nd year we have decided to defer it by 1 month when hopefully, more non-resident Amigos will be able to join us. The game will still be played at Desert Springs and will include post match food, but will now be played on 24/6. More details will appear on the site soon so please ensure you book asap.
