We are well into AMIGO’S SUMMER SWING and are delighted to see so many of you at our competitions held on some of the best courses in the area with green fees at amazing value for money rates. We have been very pleased to welcome so many new Amigos too and hope that you will continue despite the summer heat!

The AMIGOS COMPETITION LIST for 2024 has now been finalised and will be announced on 31 Aug’23 at Golf Altorreal. It opens for bookings from 01 Sep’23 and will include exciting venues and competitions throughout the year, including the venue for the next AMIGOS ANNIVERSARY CUP AWAY DAY on Thursday/Friday 23/24 May’24.

Please note that the ‘AMIGOS RYDER CUP’ Registration site is now closed for the Competition on Thursday 28 Sep’23. It has been ‘fully booked’ for a while. Some withdrawals have seen the reserve list reduce substantially but it still remains. If you do want to be considered please do email us straight away.

A first for Amigos. Please join us for GOLF and LUNCH at TORRE PACHECO on Thursday 03 Aug’23. 18 Holes (Twice around) on this Par 3 gem in Torre Pacheco followed by lunch on the Terrace. It’s well worth trying, both for fun and to test your short game. So much so that a competition rule will be to have only 3 clubs and a putter!

What a magnificent turnout at Villamartin on 16 Jun’23 from all of you AMIGOS in support of the GOLDEN BEAR v AMIGOS Anniversary Competition. Thank you all for playing in whichever Team. Unfortunately, the result did not go in our favour of Amigos albeit we came very very close, just being pipped on overall holes won.

Following the very successful golf adventure to Mojacar you have demanded another golf excursion next year in May’24! Just to let you know, we are actively checking out a whole host of possibilities for you to enjoy. Please do ensure when arranging your visits to Spain to include May’24. More to come and probably an announcement this September.

Amigos will present a ‘Menu del Dia Lunch with Golf’ at the excellent Torre Pacheco Par 3 Golf Course and on site Manoli Restaurant when it’s too hot for a full 18 hole trek on our golf courses. It’s a first for us and one to put in your golf diary.

Many Congratulations to Golden Bear Golf Society who are celebrating their 10th Anniversary this year from all Amigos. We look forward to the matchplay challenge at Villamartin on Friday 16 Jun’23 with an Evening of Tapas, drink and Entertainment at El Cason, Hacienda Riquelme.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL AMIGOS. We managed to accumulate €1044 over the last year in the Charity 2's collection and made the donation to the JHB Charity Day Organisation Committee today. This will go to many local good causes.

Congratulations to Steve Fitzpatrick, our new Amigos Anniversary Cup Champion. Additional congrats also to Annick D'Anvers & Pat Gingell who won the Texas pairs 9-hole comp on the Friday.

If you have been away from Spain for quite a while and played golf regularly in another country then PLEASE let us know your current WHS handicap just before you return to Spain so we can see if we need to adjust your handicap in the HR Golf system.

CONGRATULATIONS to Ken O'Keefe, HR Golf Society Masters Champion 2023 after a magnificent gross 75 at HR on Saturday.

It is with immense sadness that we announce the loss of one of the founder members of HR Amigos. Dave Robinson snr died today in Arrixaca hospital. Although now an occasional player with Amigos he will be sadly missed by many whom he has know for a very long time. Our thoughts & condolences go to Dave's family at this difficult time.

Demand to play in Amigos competitions has been overwhelming and is very flattering. Thank you for your support and patience in waiting to congratulate the winners at the prize ceremonies. Remember to always send us an email if the register for booking games is showing ‘fully booked’. Many changes occur just before game day and you never know?

All Amigos Organisers and Players wish one of our favourite ladies, Liz Murty, the very best of luck with her forthcoming Operation on 18 Apr’23. It’s long awaited and hope to have her playing golf again very soon.
