Hola AMIGOS
What a fantastic event the annual Golden Bear vs Amigos challenge always is and this year was no exception. The weather was fabulous (if maybe a little warm at 34'C 🥵), the course was in good condition, the evening food at El Cason was really good (despite it being a last minute change to El Cason after Roda let us down badly and cancelled our booking) and the singer was excellent. Great job by all the GB & Amigos Organisers for getting everything sorted so well.

The pairings are picked and ordered completely separately by each captain and, when combined, the start sheet saw some very interesting match-ups. The 'Match play better-ball format is rarely played and proved a very popular change with almost everyone. Each Match was played to the full 18 holes and the number of holes won by each pairing was recorded. Whichever pairing won their 'match-up' would earn their team a single point, however, in the event of an overall tie in 'matches won' the competition winners would be the team that scored the most overall 'Holes won' when all pairings on each team were counted.

It did not prove necessary to go to the 'Holes won' tiebreaker' as for the third year running, congratulations go to Golden Bear who took the win 7-5 and retained the trophy. It was a much closer fought contest than last year with 3 games being halved and 3 games being won by just 1 hole.

The pick of the teams for GB were: Sam McReynolds & Gordon Hutchinson who won 11-2, and for Amigos,: Dennis Morrison & Mo Khan who won 10-2.

We look forward to doing it all again next year at Lo' Romero where hopefully the HR Amigos can 'stop the rot' and turn the tide'.
