Hola AMIGOS

You guys were the survivors today for our final Amigos Competition of 2025.  There were so many unavoidable seasonal withdrawals due to illness and injury that we really appreciated your company on this great golf course but hope that those Amigos who missed out recover quickly!  Some late notifications did challenge the Start Sheet this morning but we managed to get every one out and there were some excellent four-balls. How did you ‘play’ the golf course with such a tough format?  Let’s see …….

Individual Category 1

Golf was good enough for this Category of Players, and some very good and some excellent. Kenny Turnbull, 34 Stableford points, Heimir Bergmann and John Gregory, 36 points and Ron Weller (h/c 14.2), 37 points, can only be honourably mentioned. The Runner-Up came through with a lower handicap and the winner’s transformation from last week’s return was truly remarkable!  And an entry into the ‘Amigos Forties Club’ truly deserved. Congratulations everyone

Winner : Steve Cherry : 41 points

Runner-Up : Alan Kilminster : 37 points (h/c 11.9)

Individual Category 2

Returns from this Division were more modest and proved quite a challenge for many. The greens were quite tricky and we are sure caught you out.  Mentions are handed to Gary Conway and Mo Khan, 32 points, Harry Rice 33 points and Caz Clarke, (h/c 33.4), 34 points.  There was competition for the two podium places and unfortunately Caz just missed out having the same total as the winners but with the highest handicap. Today proved that you don’t always have to end up with high scores to win prizes.  Well played everyone : -

Winner : Dave Hughes : 34 points (h/c 25.3)

Runner-Up : Diane Nicholls : 34 points (25.6)

Team Competition 

A  ‘Downsized Stableford’ is always a tough format and catches many out, on the Par 3’s and particularly Hole 18 where the two lowest scores counted.  No Team achieved the standard par of 72 points but some Teams gave it a good ‘go’. Team 3 are honourably mentioned, Paul Carroll, Colin Peek-Vout, Esther Siegrist and Caz Clarke.  The one/two could only be separated by the lowest total combined handicaps. Well played all: -

Winners :  Team 5  : 71 points (h/c 78 points)

Lucy Hole, Martin Donohoe, Gary Conway and Mo Khan

Runners-Up : Team 12 : 71 points (h/c 80 points)

Alan Kilminster, Harry Rice, John Douglas and Diane Nicholls

Other team scores were: Team 3 = 70pts, Teams 2 & 12 = 69pts, Team 7 = 67pts, Team 8 = 65pts, Team 11 = 63pts, Teams 1, 6 & 10 = 57pts, Team 9 = 56pts.

The target-shooters expressed themselves with excellent tee-shots on the Par 3’s, Lucy Hole, Hole 5; Mo Khan, Hole 7; Rudy Ceusters, Hole 10;  Gordon Hutchinson, Hole 14 and Liz McReynolds, Hole 17. Two’s were in plentiful supply with Steve Cherry and Mo Khan, Hole 7; Rudy Ceusters and Alan Kilminster, Hole 10 and Kenny Turnbull, Hole 14, hitting great shots.

So that wraps up Amigos Competitions for 2025 and we hope that, with today at Las Colinas, you have enjoyed the golf venues we have taken you to and of course we have appreciated your considerable support. Let’s look forward to the first Competition of 2026 at El Valle on Thursday 01 Jan’26, New Year’s Day, a traditional day of sport. Thursday 08 Jan’26 sees us play Campoamor and Thursday 22 Jan’26 is the first visit of the year to  Lo Romero where we will present prizes to our Race to Alicante Tier Winners. Please do register or let us know if showing fully booked as there is always some movement towards game day.
