21/08/25 LO ROMERO
ARCHIVED RESULT FROM
Hola AMIGOS
You just love playing Lo Romero at any time of the year don’t you? Today’s visit met the same criteria, great course, great weather, great company and some great golf was played too. Those of you long term returnees just blended in like it was last week that we all played together. And if you didn’t have a good golf day what a really lovely ambiance the course projected, a wonderful landscaped park.
Individual Category 1
Great scoring guys and that’s all I can say other than to acknowledge and very honourably mention golfers, Martin Trevillion, 36 Stableford points, Gordon Hutchinson and Colin Walters, 37. But there’s no doubting the one/two and what a performance from the winner on his way to the Amigos Forties Club, congratulations: -
Winner : Sam McReynolds : 42 points
Runner-Up : Phil Brookes : 38 points
Individual Category 2
Another great showing by the Category 2 players with, and seems to be so consistent on quality courses, two more golfers join the Amigos Forties Club. And for any other competition these honourably mentioned golfers might have thought they stood a chance of at least being in the prizes, Wayne Goodwin, 36 points, Andrew Smithurst and Eddy Murty, 37 and Dave Hughes and Graham Field 38 points. Big rounds of applause for everyone: -
Winner : Aiden McCrory : 41 points
Runner-Up : Rinus De Zwart : 40 points
Team Competition
108 points is standard par for this competition and four team combos exceeded same which is very good going. And the others weren’t too far away. Well played all:-
Winners : Team 8 : 122 points
Colin Walters, Paul Best, Dave Hughes and Wayne Goodwin
Runners-Up : Team 5 : 112 points (lowest combined handicaps)
Colin Peek-Vout, Ron Weller, Ruud Woudstra and Rinus De Zwart.
Other team scores were: Team 2 = 112pts, Team 1 = 111pts, Team 3 = 103pts, Team 7 = 101pts, Team 6 = 97pts, Team 4 = 96pts.
One prize for ‘nearest the pin’ with 3 shots on the famous island green saw Cormac Sheehy actually birdie the hole, what shooting and great golf. The Charity Pot says ‘muchas gracias’ as no ‘Two’s’ were recorded!
Isn’t it so good to see inevitable handicap reductions for fine play coming up so near the Amigos Ryder Cup!?
The upcoming fixtures see us visit Villamartin next Thursday for competition, announcement of the 2026 fixtures and of course, the ‘Live Draw’ for the Ryder Cup Team Players. Please do come and support the event. Alenda Golf, a must especially if you’ve never played there, follows and Las Colinas is on the 11 Sep’24, where we do have one vacancy but be quick should you want to join us.
Thank you all Organisers and Helpers today, Iain Stewart, Dave Hughes, Bob Lancaster, Brian Platt, Ron Weller, Andrew Smithurst and Paul Best. There is as much effort that goes into a field of 32 as for 60 and these guys helped make your day.
What a great day and thank you all.
Graham🤓👍
