06/11/25 LA SERENA

ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
La Serena Golf Course has changed so much, on the course the amazing quality of the greens and fairways makes it such a pleasure to play and the landscaping upgrade of ponds and lakes and dykes contributes to the ambiance.  The off course extensive construction works is contributing to a changing ‘feel’ but the course remains consistently challenging and enjoyable. The water is still there to test you but did you navigate around those wet hazards? Let’s see: -
Individual Category 1
On the whole, you did with some very respectable scores but that is to be expected from players of your calibre.  Steve Jones, Reg Hole, Clive Norkett, each with 35 Stableford, points, Kevin Scott, 36 points and John Byrne 38 points (h/c 15.0) and just missing out on the prizes are all honourable mentioned and all computer confirmed.  Well played everyone and especially those deserving of the podium places with the winner moving straight into the Amigos Forties Club: -
Winner : Phil Brookes : 43 points
Runner-Up : Jamie Allam : 39 points
3rd Place : Martin Trevillion : 38 points (h/c 11.1)
Individual Category 2
Amigos in this division weren’t generally up to the top players but some respectable scores were returned. Honourable mentions are awarded to Sus Tonnisen, Harry Rice and Ken Sewell, 33 points and only two of four players on 34 points were in the money but losing out were Esther Siegrist (h/c 33.9) and Graham Field (h/c 25.1) on higher handicaps.  Congratulations everyone and especially these Amigos: -
Winner : Mike McGread : 37 points
Runner-Up : Tiina Hurst : 34 points (h/c 22.1)
3rd Place : Alan Leonard : 34 points (h/c 23.1)
Team Competition
With a difficult format and with any ‘wet ball’ not contributing to the Team score 6 Teams did achieve Standard Par of 108 Stableford points and more so well played, you gelled together extremely well: -
Winners : Team 8 : 121 points
Rob Buckey, Reg Hole, Phil Brookes and Esther Siegrist
Runners-Up : Team 4 : 115 points
Kevin Scott, Jamie Allam, Graham Field and Jane McDonald
3rd Place : Team 5 : 113 points
Clive Norkett, Brian Dagnall, Mike McGread and Ken Sewell.
Other team scores were: Team 7 = 111pts, Team 12 = 108pts, Team 9 = 106pts, Teas 3 & 11 = 105pts, Team 6 = 103pts, Team 2 = 101pts, Team 1 = 94pts, Team 10 = 90pts.
On form target-shooters were Paul Sawyers, Hole 3; Esther Siegrist, Hole 9; Henrik Tonnisen, Hole 13 (in 2) and James Silvestro, Hole 17, an example of fine tee shots for us all to applaud.  Disappointingly there were no ‘Two’s’ but the Charity Pot is grateful! 😂
We usually have a sweepstake at La Serena for the total number of ‘wet’ golf balls and today was no exception. The actual number was 142 and Graham Hallifax predicted 141 winning a handsome prize.  Sylvia de Zwart, individually managed to lose 8 balls, far from being a record, according to the adjudicator, but this was more than made up with a surprise ‘prize’ of a dozen quality used balls!

Do look at the Amigos Competition Schedule for the remaining games in 2025; Golf Altorreal, New Sierra Golf, La Finca, Las Colinas and Alicante Golf where the Race…….. ends!  There is currently availability but please do register or let us know straight away as the remaining places will be taken up.  And all Competitions will be at the very best Society rates to be had! You can register for all of our games for 2026 too.
Thank you today’s Organisers and Helpers, without you the day wouldn’t have gone so smoothly, Harry Rice, Brian Platt, Iain Stewart, Bob Lancaster, Gary Conway, Mick Lynch and Sus Tonnisen and especially you Amigos for your patience and support.
See you at Golf Altorreal!
Gracias
Graham🤓👍
