ARCHIVED RESULT FROM

Hola AMIGOS
Thank you all for supporting our golf trip to Alenda Golf today and hope that you appreciate why we have this venue on our fixture list.  It’s a great course to play and so pleased that those of you who played it for the first time enjoyed the experience.  But how did you play it?  Well, what can I say, two further entrants join the Amigos Forties Club!
Individual Category 1
In starting the honourable mentions at 36 gives you some idea of quality of the Category 1 Golfers. A thoroughly slick performance is what we expect and it was delivered. Russell Fisher, 36 Stableford points, Ron Weller and Iain Stewart, 37 points and Gail Duffield (h/c 18.0) 38 who just missed out of the prizes are all commended. But well played the top 3:
Winner : Clive Norkett : 39 points (h/c 9.2)
Runner- Up : Jeff Cohen : 39 points (h/c 18.3)
3rd Place : Alan Kilminster (h/c 12.0) 38 points
Individual Category 2
A very good response from the players in this division who are all to be congratulated and the top two were light years ahead of everyone else, playing a different course?
Ken Roche 34 points and Esther Siegrist (h/c 34.2) and Carol Brand (22.6), 35 points can be honourably mentioned but 3rd place was awarded on points difference.  But what about the top two clocking off 40+ and could only be separated on handicap. The winner hopefully will go back into Category 1 next time. Very well played: -
Winner : Gordon Hutchinson : 42 points (h/c 18.4)
Runner-Up : Rinus de Zwart : 42 points (h/c 29.5)
3rd Place : Harry Rice : 35 points (h/c 20.7)
Team Competition
Expecting to achieve standard par, 63 with this Stableford 50 Countdown format with bonus, all Teams clearly combined well to exceed this number or in one case just falling short so very well played everyone and especially the winning Team who were of stand out quality.
Winners : Team 5 : 83 points
Sam McReynolds, Kevin Scott, Carol Brand and Rinus de Zwart
Runners-Up : Team 1 : 74 points
Paul Taylor, Iain Stewart, Ken Roche and Gary Conway.
Other Team scores were: Team 7 = 73pts, Team 2 = 72pts, Teams 8 & 9 = 69pts, Team 4 = 66pts, Team 6 = 65pts, Team 3 = 58pts.
Today was also presentation day for a very important individual competition and we are so pleased to announce, acknowledge and reward two Amigos playing consistent golf in the period May-August and winning Platinum Property Order of Merit plaques. Many congratulations Category 1 Winner, Gordon Hutchinson and Category 2 Winner Andrew Smithurst.
Despite the high scoring no two’s were recorded and the Charity Box is well pleased!
There is just one competition left before the Amigos Ryder Cup but what a treat that is, Las Colinas and we have just learned of some places becoming available so if you want to seize this opportunity of playing on this great course please do register in the usual way or let us know soonest.
Many thanks to our Organisers and Helpers on duty today, Harry Rice, Iain Stewart, Brian Platt, Ron Weller, Andrew Smithurst and Sponsor and presenter Liz McReyolds.
And we don’t want to miss a shout out for our esteemed Captain Europe, Gail Duffield, returning to Spain in time to goad her Team into a winning Team.
Thank you all, debutants, long time returnees, regulars and irregulars and hope you will remember this course.
