02 APR '26 RESULT FROM  -  ALHAMA SIGNATURE

Hi all,

An obvious question to start with – are we ever going to play without strong winds hindering our play? Seems like we have had at least a strong breeze all year. Added yesterday to a course that, whilst definitely better than last year, still has a way to go before being described as good condition, were some frankly odd pin positions. It is a shame on a course with such a great layout and variety of holes. Let us hope that progress continues and that in future years the course will be a highlight in our Calander again.
The results reflected all of the above, with just a couple of notable exceptions. Let’s see how you actually performed:

Individual Category 1
Not high scoring at all in this category, with the first 2 being most surprised to be in the prizes at all!  5 players tied on 30 points, so 3rd place was on lower handicap from Iain Stewart, Reg Hole, Mike Dagnall and Mick Lynch. But just pipping them:

Winner : Alan Kilminster : 32 points
Runner-Up : Brian Platt : 31 points
3rd Place : Russell Fisher : 30 points
Individual Category 2
Some better performances than the Cat 1 players, with Honourable mentions to Nigel Smith, Graham Field and Paul Best on 32 and Phil Wright and Marc Vandercruysen on 33 pts. But definitely significantly best:

Winner : Harry Rice : 38 points
Runner-Up : Jane Hutchinson : 36 points
3rd Place : Henrik Tonnisen : 35 points
Team Competition
A reasonably easy format in the Bonus points game. This led to 2 runaway teams in first and second, and then 6 teams within 3 points of each other.

Winners : Team 11 : 27 points
Ken O´Keefe, Phil Brookes, Harry Rice and Andrew Smithurst

Runner-up : Team 4 : 121 points

Anne Hollman- Bunn, Hans Beque, Jane Hutchinson and Henrik Tonnisen

Third Place : Team 5 : 110 points

Garry Elderbrand, Del Holloway, Sus Tonnisen and Graham Field

Other team scores were: Team 1 = 109pts, Teams 2, 3 & 8 = 108pts, Team 7 = 107pts, Team 5 = 104pts, Team 10 = 102pts, Team 9 = 101pts.

No NTP this week and our only 2 was on Hole 17 by Marc Allen.

As the weather begins to warm and the spring sweep is on us, upcoming visits include: Altorreal, Hacienda Riquelme and Alenda. There is a limited amount of availability for all 3 so do register – they are all great courses that are always popular with the Amigos.
Many thanks to all of the Amigos Organisers and Helpers whether at the course or behind the scenes who contributed to the smoothest running of the event.
Cheers

Iain Stewart
