08 MAY '25 RESULT FROM  -  LA TORRE

Hola AMIGOS
Thank you all for joining us today at La Torre and whilst the golf course was not great you all created something of an atmosphere at the Lakeside Bar for drinks and prize presentation afterwards. Thank you for your patience and support.
How well did we play today? Very well in fact, with some great returns across both categories.
Firstly though, amidst our fun Team Games, we are so pleased to reward true individual performance and consistency on the more serious side of our Amigos golf competitions and provide trophies to commemorate same.
Recipients of the Platinum Property Order of Merit for the period Jan-Apr’25 are:-

Winner : Category 1 : Steve Fitzpatrick (For the third time! That is consistency)
Winner : Category 2 : Wayne Goodwin (For the first time)

Thank you Liz McReynolds and your Platinum Property Business for sponsoring and presenting the awards.
Individual Category 1
16 Amigos scoring 30 points and above out of 26 is exceptional going and so pleased to welcome the winner into the Amigos Forties Club. These Amigos are honourably mentioned: Graham Hallifax and Stan Lalley, 33 points, Brian Platt and Iain Stewart, 34 points. Congratulations and we salute the podium winners:-

Winner : Paul Taylor : 42 points
Runner-Up : Colin Walters : 39 points (h/c 9.1)
3rd Place : Ron Weller : 39 points (h/c 15.6)
Individual Category 2
Following the path of the elite golfers, above, again 16 Amigos out of 23 had scores of 30 and above and yet another entrant goes into the Amigos Forties Club for a best of the day return. Highly commended are Liz Murty, Wayne Goodwin and Paul Chamberlain 34 points; Ros Hastings and Graham Field, 37 points and just missing out on a prize with a higher handicap is Lindy Easson, 38 points (h/c 30.6). Congratulations everyone who played in this category and especially the 1-2-3:-

Winner : Paul Best : 44 points (Yes, 44 points!)
Runner-Up : Simon Hastings : 38 points (h/c 22.7)
3rd Place : Gary Conway : 38 points (h/c 26.3)
Team Competition
72 points is standard par this competition but with the twist that the two lowest scores counted on the Par3’s that sorted you out big time! All Teams were well below the standard expected but the two winning Teams merely glimpsed par as they sailed past! Well played these Teams for exceptional performances and well done the rest for trying!:-
Winners : Team 8 : 83 points (total combined handicaps 76)
Paul Taylor, Carol Brand, Paul Chamberlain and Liz McReynolds

Runners-Up : Team 7 : 83 points (total combined handicap 80)
Ken O’Keeffe, Ron Weller, Paul Best and Ros Hastings.

Other team scores were: Teams 2 & 4 = 70pts, Teams 3, 9, 12 = 69pts, Team 6 = 67pts, Team 10 = 65pts, Teams 5 & 14 = 63pts, Team 13 = 61pts, Team 11 = 59pts, Team 1 = 56pts.
Plenty of targets for quality tee-shots today on 6 x Par3’s and executed to perfection were Wayne Goodwin, Hole 3; Colin Walters, Hole 5; Paul Taylor, Hole 9;  Colin Walters, Hole 11, Brian Platt, Hole 15 and Paul Taylor, Hole 17.  And finishing off for those elusive ‘Two’s’ were Simon Hastings and Mike McGread, Hole 3, Brian Platt and Colin Walters, Hole 5 and Noel McCann, on the difficult Hole 11.
The next time we see many of you will be at La Envia in two weeks time which we are so looking forward to with many of the final details being set in place. Please though do register for New Sierra Golf on 28 May’25, a course which has some of the best greens in the area and what a June we have lined up, La Finca, Lo Romero, Mar Menor and El Plantio. Just can’t wait! Do register and if showing fully booked just send me an email to be put onto a reserve list.
And you all know that without these Organisers, Harry Rice, Brian Platt, Iain Stewart, Bob Lancaster, Dave Hughes and Starters and Photographer Ron Weller and Simon Hastings the event would not be quite the occasion it is.
Thank you all for your participation.
