After a 2 year wait, the Amigos Ryder Cup is back on 25th September and the venue this year is Saurines Golf with the evening meal, presentations and entertainment being held at "Blue Collar" in La Torre. As you might expect, this year will be bigger & better than previous years with 80 tee times for the golf and around 130 attendees expected in the evening. This year your team captains are:

DIANE NICHOLLS - CAPTAIN AMERICA                  GAIL DUFFIELD - CAPTAIN EUROPE

So how will it work?.....

THE GAME FORMAT
This will be exclusively a Team Game, Europe v America and will generally follow the principles of the official Ryder Cup Format including both an element of better-ball Pairs, Foursomes and Individual Matchplay.

  • For holes 1 – 6 we will play better-ball pairs for 1 point.

  • For holes 7 – 12 we will play foursomes and for 1 point.

  • For holes 13 – 18 we will play ‘head-to-head’ matchplay

    • Player 1 from the European Team will play Player 1 from the American Team over 6 holes for 1 point

    • Player 2 from the European Team will play Player 2 from the American Team over 6 holes for 1 point).

TEAM SELECTION

  • On 28th August @ Villamartin, the team draw will take place.

  • All players identified as "PLAYING" will go into a blind draw where each of the Captains will select their team members by alternately drawing numbered balls from a bag.

  • Each ball will represent a different player and the 40 players picked by the European Captain will form the European team and the same for the USA Captain.

  • Each team captain will then decide how to pair-up their team members and what order they should play in. This information will be shared with no-one other than the Captain's vice-captain and the adjudicator. .

  • Once decided, that info is passed to the adjudicator who will use that detail to collate the start sheet, keeping everything secret until both Captains have decided and submitted their team structures.

  • The completed start sheet will be issued to all players on Tuesday 23rd September.

RULES OF THE DAY

  • NO ‘LIFT & PLACE’ – Summer rules apply. If course conditions require this to change it will be announced to all on the day by the Match Adjudicator.

  • Holes may be ‘conceded’ if a team/player deems they cannot possibly win that hole and would rather move directly onto the next hole. No scores from this competition will be used for Handicap or Order of Merit records.

  • Players may "give" an opponent a short put if they wish.

  • Ensure you understand the game formats and apply them properly.

  • Score each hole with 'W' for a WIN or 'O' for HALVED

  • HAVE FUN AND ENJOY THE GAME.

SCORING

  • Each '6-hole game format' within each Team match is treated as a separate 'match' for scoring purposes, with the ability for either team to score a maximum 4  TEAM POINTS (1pt Betterball, 1 pt Foursome & 2pts Individuals).

  • Within each '6-hole game format' the total number of HOLE WINS for Europe / America will be calculated.

  • The team with the higher number of HOLE WINS within that '6-hole game format' will win 1 TEAM POINT.

  • In the event of a tie each team will receive 1/2 TEAM POINT.

  • If Team Europe or Team America achieve more than 40 TEAM POINTS in total, they will win the trophy.

  • In the event of a 40 - 40 result, Team America will retain the trophy.

EXTRAS

  • There will be four NTP prizes for players to win.

  • There will be no "Twos" competition.

  • There will be a "Predict the score" sweepstake competition

    • All players can place a €1 bid on what they believe the final score will be.

    • Players can place more than 1 bid if they wish.
